Meet our boobydoo team: Guna, Louise, Indy

This week we're introducing Guna, Louise, and Indy. They're all at 3 different stages of motherhood, and share some thoughts about their journeys

Guna

You may recognise Guna from our previous maternity bra blog post and we’re delighted to share that she recently gave birth to a healthy baby boy, so she’s a brand new mum! Guna enjoys going on walks, doing pilates, and exploring the world of new motherhood.

What advice would you give to 12yo you?

"I'm not sure! But definitely I'd tell myself something positive."

How has a sports bra changed the way you stay active?

"Using a good maternity sports bra meant that I could stay active during my pregnancy and also after when I had my baby."

What do you enjoy about being a mother?

"I'm having the best time being a mum! It's all new, but I'm enjoying every minute."

Louise

Louise still holds the pony show jumping record in her home county (she had a New Forest called Cinderella), she once walked for 6 days in the deep jungles of Sumatra for a breast cancer charity (it was 5 hours to the nearest doctor in a time before mobile phones) and has sailed across the Irish sea with 5 men. Despite all that, Louise describes herself as ‘very ordinary!’ Louise loves being active and needs variety but to stay strong, protect her bones and prevent muscle loss (which is the ultimate in being +50!)

What advice would you give to 12yo you?

"I would tell my 12-year-old self to love her body a bit more. Growing up, you’re constantly comparing yourself to your friends’ bodies and at that stage especially we all grow at different pace and ways! I would tell my younger self not to fret that I did or didn’t develop as fast or slow as my friends. I would also tell my younger self to cherish the way a younger body moves, flexes and bounces - springing like a coil! It is hard to get that feeling back!

How has a sports bra changed the way you stay active?

My sports bra is as important to my work out as my shoes, sleep the night before and general wellbeing! I hate my boobs moving during an activity. It makes me feel uncomfortable and prevents me from going at it fully! I’m an absolute lover of the new Shock Absorber Run Bra because it doesn’t chafe into my neck.

What do you enjoy about being a mother?

“Being surrounded by laughter and cohesive mayhem! My children have definitely kept me on my toes, that's for sure.”

Indy

With a background in Sports and Exercise, Indy loves all things active! Her dissertation focused on minority women in sport, highlighting the external pressures they face from society. However, Indy’s passionate about getting everyone up and about and is usually the first one to prescribe a ‘Quick 5’ exercise session for the boobydoo team when they’ve spent a while in front of their desks!

What advice would you give to 12yo you?

“To be more confident in myself! Also, I'd tell 12-year-old me: don't grow up! It's trap.”

How has a sports bra changed the way you stay active?

I’ve definitely gained an appreciation for finding a good fitting sports bra. Even though I’m a smaller-chested lady, it’s still really important to make sure you have support.”

What do you enjoy about being a mother?

“My girls have taught me so much about life and about myself. It’s never easy, but I’m learning everyday. I’m proud to be a strong role model for them.”
